But I've never run before (but I will)

Gosh.  If i had a dollar for every time I said "but I've never run before" or "I don't like running" or "but....", I would be a billionaire.

A lot of people ask if Runnez Virtual is for everyone.  I say that it is, but I think it might be time to prove it.

As I sit here writing this, I still can't believe that I have become a runner.  Not that long ago, I wasn't.

Not in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would be.  How could I?  I didn't like running.

It's not something I ever thought I could ever, ever enjoy.

What did it take?  It took support.

Those first times I went to the running track with Rick I was very nervous.

To start, I thought I probably looked pretty silly - and that I wouldn't be able to do it.

Looking back, that first time was very important - and very special.

We walked together as we spoke.  We discussed lots of different things - and I had a lot of questions.  Most of the time though, we were moving.

After we walked for a while we had a break.  Stood, spoke and then walked again.

This time it was a bit quicker.

Rick asked me if I felt I could try jogging.  This was new.  He asked me.  He didn't tell me.

Because, I think, I felt it was my choice and so I thought why not?  Let's see what happens.

We jogged for about 20 seconds and he asked me to go back to an easy walk.

I was thankful.  Going from zero to jogging is a fair effort if you have never done it.

We basically stepped through (do you like what I did there?) a cycle of walking, resting and jogging for around 25 minutes.

We did this together a few times at the running track, along the beach and on the treadmill.

Start small.

From little things, big things grow.

Each time it was much the same session - except I was progressing.

My walking became quicker.  I always jogged when I needed to.  My breathing became more regulated.  The more time went on, the more energy I felt I had for the day ahead.

All it took, for me, was this basic lesson and a willingness to keep trying.

Over the past weekend we decided to share this very first course with everyone via the Runnez Virtual app.

We are going to put the entire group of courses that Rick had me do, to enable me to become a full participant in Runnez, in the Runnez Virtual app for anyone to be able to use.

Once you have going through these courses you will be ready to participate in the full-length Runnez courses.

The first of these we named 'Beginning new'.

Hopefully you read this and it inspires you to take your first step in your running journey.

If it does, please let me know - or tell me over a coffee.  I'm always free for a coffee!

Take care.

Dave.
